In August, when the days are hot,
Anonymous
I like to find a shady spot,
And hardly move a single bit—
And sit—
And sit—
And sit!

#WATWB
This is the first post I have done with the hashtag #WATWB handle for ‘We Are The World Blogfest’. I am attracted to this group of bloggers as it strives to counterbalance the barrage of negative news we all face in our modern world.
The aim of #WATWB is to share a good story in no more than 500 words on the last Friday of each month—with no story being too big or too small, as long as it isn’t about politics, religion and doom mongering.
I have felt overwhelmed by the plight of the world. We have to cope with a daily awareness of bad news. The destruction of nature and all we care about. The list is massive!
- global warming
- environmental pollution
- habitat destruction
- endangerment of wildlife in The 6th Extinction
- and plastic!
There is a huge need to stop (and getting back to my blog) to sit down! To sit down and listen to some happy news! To focus more on what is good about our world. To be human. So I salute the aim of this group. To highlight the positives versus the negatives. To combat the gloom of the destructive clamouring of the doom-ridden media.

Hi Lesley,
I have also been overwhelmed with the threatening climate crisis. So many ideas for small things I could do but will it be enough?
However, I decided that even small steps are worth it and every small step can inspire others so that we can do some bigger steps together.
Perhaps, if you have time, you could consider joining us at the 3rd global Climate Strike Week from 20th – 27th September. There will be events of all kinds everywhere.

Hello Stephanie,
Yes, small steps can lead to going a fair distance! I shall be pleased to look up a local group (I live in the City of London) and see where I might be able to contribute.
Thanks for contacting me,
Lesley
