The Lily of the Field

THE LILY OF THE FIELD

In America, the 5th of September is Labour Day (or should I say Labor Day?). It is an annual holiday.

THE LILY OF THE FIELD

My poem, A Quadrille of 44 words (not including the title), is about ‘Work’. THE LILY OF THE FIELD, is for Dverse poets and all my friends across the Pond.

THE LILY OF THE FIELD

“Some of us work, and some of us shirk.
I do neither”.

Don’t be silly! I hear you say?

“I am a lily of the field by the wood.
I toil not, neither do I spin.
But I look good
Swayin’ in the wind.”
