NO

In response to SARAHSOUTHWEST in Poetics for d’Verse poets, I write in tribute to the poet Thomas Hood my poem NO. Is it worth reading? Er, no.

No shade, no shine, no butterflies,
No bees
No trees
No sense
so
Please
No more
artificial grass
Up your arse
Fake plants
No
oil
no More

no drastic
plastic
So drastic

no
oh!
Did I mention plastic?
No?
So
let me say
once again
No to fake grass

No insects
no worms
no birds
no tiger
no
flies
Buzzing at your door
everything dies
No hedgehogs anymore
No time
To climate change
Or rearrange
No where to go
No ebb or flow
No thing to grow
No mow
the lawn till the end of dawn
Birds and insects need
Hedgerow
to grow
to breed
And feed
from seed

No nature
No humans

Will anybody listen to me?
No.

  2. Um, yes? It is worth reading – I loved the slippery shape, and the repetition, and the sentiment. Is there anything more stupid (and ugly?) than artificial grass?

  3. Artificial grass… except for playing football (maybe)
