A hop and a leap
is all it takes
To keep
to make
a happy child
In lunchtime breaks
Jumping over
A four leaf clover
Or a friend
The other day
I was out for a jog
And saw a bollard
What about a leapfrog,
I thought?
I leapfrogged the bollard
(the bollard was hard)
And got caught by a police officer
and admonished
and told,
“You are too old”
(That was cruel)
Not since school
Have I felt such a fool
The other day I was on a walk by a bog with my dog
And I saw a fallen down, gnarled, old tree log
What about a leapfrog,
I wondered?
A quick run and a hop
I leapfrogged on top
and all my spare parts
Were a-sundered.

My thanks to Sarah Southwest and d’Verse Poets for the Animal Verbs poetry prompt.
I’m too late to include this in Mr Linky. Mish, might it be okay for OLN?
Bollocks to the bollard said the boggard. Arrested for being too forward and being deemed a public menace, he was imprisoned. This alien met him in prison during his sabbatical and decided to fight his case pro bono. The unfortunate judge was treated to a live demonstration after being overuled by the ministry of monstrosities.
You’re quite adventurous, Lesley! Playing leapfrog on public property? Tut tut! I hope the last incident was not too painful. It sounds like you had quite the ordeal! A fun read, as always. I enjoyed this slice of life poem.
