Listen

Listen to the pluvial refrain – the sound on my umbrella – the rhythm of the rain.

Raindrops

When raindrops fall upon my hand
It takes me to another land
A land where nature taps a beat
My heart will dance
(and my feet)

Jumping in puddles is what I do
splashing through small lakes of dew
Listening to the pluvial refrain
The sound on my umbrella,
The rhythm of the rain
pat, pat, pat.

Dripping raindrops on my hand
Take me to another land
and I am a child again.

Okay, I confess. I’m partial to splashing about in the rain.

  1. So, so full of memories of childhood, Lesley, .…splashing about, enjoying every moment of the droplets, …simply getting wet, and loving it, …now, …it’s “where’s my brolly, my hair’ll go frizzy!!! “… loving the sound of the rain, …all round it’s simply a magic experience of words and the music of nature….✨👏✨🌧️✨

  3. As long as you’ve got the boots for it, Lesley! It feels horrible when the water gets into my socks. This post was a nice walk through the rain, along with trusty umbrella. Enjoyed it.

  5. An absolutely beautiful poem, celebrating rainfall is an apt description. It also reminds me of childhood, and how everything glistened when it rained. Your poem “takes me to another land.”

A pleasure! ❤️ I think we have an umbrella somewhere in the apartment, but I was recalling a specific day last year.

My now-wife and I were walking to a store, and there was a downpour. We entered the store dripping with rainwater. 🤣
