The W3 Weekly Poetry Prompt #61 Poet of the Week is Heather Carr-Rowe (Sgeoil). Heather’s prompt is to write in any style about a place that evokes emotion (a place where you find poetry).

Heather’s prompt guidelines
Write a poem in any style about a place that evokes emotion (a place where you find poetry);

It could be a place you go daily; perhaps from your childhood; or a place you may have only dreamed of. It may be under your favourite tree; a sports field; the lake; a coffee shop; your comfy chair; the dreaded dentist’s chair; or on a plane in the clouds… the possibilities are endless.
Oh, do not laugh, please do not laugh
My poetry emotion, emotional place is in the bath

I wrote THE BATH in the bath. It is my second cyhydedd fyr poem written in as many days. I’d never heard of this old Welsh poetry form—now, like buses, two come along at once! The strict poetry form type is rhyming couplets with eight syllables per line. (read my first cyhydedd fyr here)

THE BATH

The bath is where I reminisce
The loo is where I… heed you this—

The hot bath tub is where I think
(I’m too fat to fit in the sink)

I’ll wallow and bathe for a time
Then, imagine some sort of rhyme

The bath is a good place to soak,
To conceive and construct a joke

I dream in puffs of clouds above
Of fantasy, drama and love

To go boating on the high seas
Undulate on waves and the breeze

I dream of Shakespeare and Milton
Drinking wine and eating Stilton

Drifting off with Browning and Poe,
Wordsworth, Byron and Longfellow

I’m floating on a calm blue lake
A shark then bites me—and I wake

Soap up my nose!—I blow bubbles
I cannot breathe!—I’m in troubles

In a towel I hum a tune
In the mirror I see a prune

My thanks to David, W3 Weekly Poetry Prompt #61 as always, and to Poet of the Week Heather Carr-Rowe (Sgeoil) for her poetic prompt.

Cheerio for now, it’s bathtime 🧼

Can there be anything more divine?
