I wrote two limericks in response to this week’s #FFFC Melissa’s Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge to write something inspired by this photograph.


Lesley lives in the City of London Square Mile. An artist, actor and sculptor (her first ceramic sculpture won the V&A inspired by… Award). Scenic artist & book illustrator, playwright, (her musical play, Rapscallion performed in inner city schools and theatre school); TV dancer; Animator and illustrator for TV production. Set up Pinecone Studios Ltd and IIMSI Ltd drama and filmmaking workshops in London – producing award-winning films made by children.

      1. I find it interesting that I see a dark gray cat and others see a black cat. I think it’s due to the lighting. Side note: growing up, I had a dark brown (chocolate) colored cat, and people used to say he was black. Even my mother said he was black. He wasn’t. When the light shone on his fur, you could clearly see it was dark, dark brown.

      5. You’ve got me looking up names for smokey dark brown! Did you know that The first recorded use of burnt umber as a color name in English was in 1650?
