I wrote my waterfowl poem, The Mallard Drake and the White Duck, for Melissa’s Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge #257.
I apologise in advance for the Mallard duck’s use of fowl language.
(*Warning: The poem contains foul language at the start)
The Mallard Drake and the White Duck

What the f***!
Said the mallard drake to the white duck.
What do you mean? quacked the white duck.
The water’s cold!
At least it’s clean.
Yes, but it’s cold!
Are you getting old?
I like it when the water’s cold.
Do you swim here often?
Not as much as I’d like.
Oh, that’s rotten luck,
said the mallard drake
with a quack,
to the white duck.
