It thrills me to present to you our latest rengay, The Lap of the Gods. It is the eighth in our current series of four-person rengay, collaborative poetry.
Lap of the Gods
by
Melissa Lemay (ml), Matt Snyder (ms),
David Bogomolny (db), and myself (ls),

ml: no sun shines
between the blinds
a housefly
ms: GOD you annoy me, sometimes
it's all just DARKNESS to you
db: frenetic dreams dance ~
aroused by Agrat's allure
~ demons of my seed
ls: mist swirls on the roof
bats fidget under the eaves
moonlit shadows stretch
ml: across the lake -- a bridge
where there is a giant tree
ms: i climb to great heights
the vultures encircle me
their next meal before them
db: Lilith reposes
as I sacrifice my ~ self
~ to the se'irim
ls: ‘neath the stars of capricorn
the screeching of a night owl
ml: the wheel of fortune
I toss my old tarot cards
into the trash
ms: if I roll sevens three times
seven once, seven twice...
Holy Hell would you look at...
db: ~ finally, the 8th suitor
exorcises Ashmedai ~
ls: The fateful night ends,
tyrant’s grip weakens to dust—
dawn’s first light brings hope
