Quadrille #212: What the What
What? What is a quadrille poem? It is a poem limited to just 44 words created by the d’Verse Poets Pub. Where our gracious host is Whimsygizmo inviting us to write a quadrille that includes a form of the word what.
“What?”
“I’m not repeating it.”
What?

What’s that?
What’s what?
What have you got
under your hat?
Under my hat is my brain,
What?
That’s rather odd,
Let’s speak plain,
Is that a cat?
I’m a magician,
I keep lots of things under my hat.
Do you want a peek?

A little bit of personal history with magic
Magical David Nixon and Ali Bongo
In my career, I (and my twin sister) were lucky to work with the charismatic magician David Nixon and the great Ali Bongo (President of the Magic Circle) on BBC’s The David Nixon Show. I adored the intrigue and secrecy involved with the acts. We signed (under threat of being sawn in half) a ‘secrets act’ never to disclose how the tricks were done. I shall always remember the wonderful David Nixon with warmth, and the surprise when he turned up at our small impromptu birthday party backstage, during a panto season—and gave us a show of his wondrous fun and magical tricks.
The Amazing Kreskin
Another memorable and magical experience was working with the amazing mentalist Kreskin, in an episode of the New Kreskin TV show.
