The Rabbit and the Christmas Elf

It is Christmas Eve. Everyone is in bed asleep, except for the pet rabbit who notices there is an elf hiding behind the sofa…
You can come out now,
said the rabbit to the elf,
Come out of hiding,
Come out, show yourself.
Don’t hide behind the sofa,
There is nothing to fear,
No humans are stirring,
I’m the only one here.
The elf creeps out
And stares at the bunny—
He likes the rabbit’s long ears,
And thinks he looks funny.
Why are you here?
Asks the bunny of the elf,
My name is Ralph,
And Santa forgot me,
He left me behind,
By the tree,
All alone, by myself,
Why did he do that?
That doesn’t seem kind,
He’s very busy tonight,
With a lot on his mind.
Will he come back for you?
I don’t really know,
It depends on the weather,
There’s a whole lot of snow…
To cheer you up, let’s have some fun,
While everyone’s asleep in bed,
We can hop, skip, and run,
Hang out with Christmas baubles,
And stand on our head;
Unless you want to hide behind the sofa, instead?
The elf and the furry pet
Play with the toys under the tree,
A football, a train set,
And video game, ‘Call of Duty’
They play a game of chess and build some Lego,
Then, they hear a jingling sound…
Outside of the window,
They stop with their play,
It is Santa Claus!
The rabbit claps his paws, in applause,
Santa has come back on his sleigh,
To collect his forgotten elf,
Wahay!
It’s time to say goodbye to Ralph,
Time for him to go,
Then the Rabbit sobs a cry,
He is sad with sorrow,
The Christmas elf wipes a tear,
Do not fret, my long-eared friend,
I’ll see you again,
Same time, same place, next year,
The End
