I wrote Between Two Doors in response to De Jackson aka Whimsygizmo’s prompt for the d’Verse Poets #215; Read for Liftoff. Whimsy’s prompt is to write a quadrille poem of just forty four words that includes some form of the word Lift.
Between Two Floors
In the lift I stare at the glass
My hair’s a mess—so’s my face
Like a naughty school kid in class—
I stick out my tongue and grimace
The lift stops between two floors
It seems I’m stuck—I can’t open the doors
