I wrote my poem Top Model Dogs, in response to Melissa’s Fandango Flash Fiction photo prompt #305. To write something inspired by the photo below.

Top Model Dogs
‘I’ve had enough of this modelling lark,’
huffed Scruffy (he’s the one on the right)
with a gruff growl and bark.
‘Don’t they know I’m a dog
and a beast!
I should be running wild in the park,
or playing a gangster, at least.’
‘What are we dressed as this time?’
‘Doctors and nurses,
barked his small canine friend,’
‘Well, I’ve had enough
of modelling and filling their purses,’
This is the end!
With that,
Scruffy tore the nurse’s hat off his head—
‘I’ll see you later, by our tree in the park—
I don’t want to work’—
And he ran out of the studio with a bark,
‘Okay,’ said his friend,
who quickly followed him out…
‘You know this is the end of our modelling career,’
‘I don’t give a toss or a clout,’ said Scruffy, ‘Let’s go for a beer!’
