I wrote my poem, The Dark Transformation of Dr. Jekyll, in response to the W3 Prompt #156, where the Poet of the Week challenges us to compose an acrostic poem using the word TRANSFORMATION.
Carol Anne’s prompt guidelines
This week, write an acrostic poem using the word transformation. In an acrostic, the first letter of each line spells out a word or phrase—vertically down the left margin.
Each line should relate to the theme of transformation in some way: personal, spiritual, political, emotional, seasonal—whatever resonates with you. There’s no set meter or rhyme scheme, but thoughtful structure is always welcome.
The Dark Transformation of Dr. Jekyll

Things went wrong the night he mixed his potion
Roars of rage rose in twisted commotion
All kinds of changes in his body and brain
Nefarious deeds, unspeakable pain
Slowly it crept in… insidious at first
Fracturing his good side, releasing the worst
Once unleashed—the darkness took control
Ruling Dr Jekyll with his heart dark as coal
Mr Hyde’s madness, made no heed of contrition
A malevolent monster with evil ambition
Terrible transformations all over the place
In the life of Dr Jekyll (a very sad case)
Overcoming his bad side he couldn’t turn back
Nothing could save him—and his life faded to black.
