When I was very ill at the start of this year, David sent me a daily animated gif hug. I’ll never forget his warmth, or the comfort those pixelated embraces brought from so far away.

          the glow of an email hug
          warms her resting heart

ls:     the iPhone slips from her hand…
         and her hug lies on the floor

          “hug” into something awkward—
          delete! delete!

ls:     startled, she wakes up!
        and taps the screen—it’s gone dark
        where is her cuddle?

db:     out of battery—
         Pooh and Piglet's embrace needs a recharge

ls:     her gaze scans the sky—
         sees the moon     and a satellite—
         she needs a signal
