The Contented Crocodile

On a riverbank of the Nile
there lazed a placid crocodile
he slowly drank a pint or two
while digesting a salty gnu
The water was cool, laced with lime
he slurped each gulp in languid time
the trees around were summer’s green
and made a lovely tranquil scene
The contented crocodile
paused a while
and licked his teeth and gave a smile
he was happy here on the Nile
