I wrote my poem Dawg in response to Melissa’s Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge #363, to write something inspired by this photo from kevin turcios.

Dawg
I am a beast
a wild bull dawg
I love to feast
on sausage
and titbit bones
in sunshine
rain
or fawg
I’ll slaver
whenever I see a water fountain
or ice cream cones
my face transforms into a dream
into a picture—
a nightmare—
just like
Edvard Munch’s
SCREAM!

THANK YOU
My grateful thanks to Melissa Lemay for the inspirational prompt.
And heartfelt thanks to you, dear reader, for spending time with my poem—both in reading and in listening.
