Maelstrom

In the gaping craw of the tempest’s roar Where ocean’s wrath meets thundery seas A maelstrom spins downward vortices to the core Angry dances of chaos against doomed sailors’ pleas. A swirling abyss where tides collide Performing Nature’s whirling dervish fouetté The ocean’s fury in wide inexorable stride Engulfing all that deigns to cross its way. Lesley Scble, September 2023
I wrote my poem MAELSTROM in response to the Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt #330. To write prose or a poem in only 56 words. I also painted the picture to illustrate the poem. Please click the image to visit sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt.

A very powerful poem, Lesley. And extra points for the use of “fouetté.”

‘Whirling dervish fouette’: transcendental ballet? That is a good concept. Tickles my imagination. Now I want to create a religion of the Dancing God in my next fantasy book.

Can you create any of your wondrous music for it? 🙏🎶😊🥳 Please? I can do something to accompany on my piano… or mandolin…

Ooh 😮 music for what exactly? The poem, comment or book idea? I haven’t touched a musical instrument for ages. I don’t know much of the theory behind composing music, but I think I can come up with something simple. I might take a while.

I so enjoyed the music of yours that I’ve heard. 🎶 It would be fun. 🤩 Something simple along the lines of the beat you suggested to go with the construction noise poem. 🙏💗😊 No rush. Only if it’s fun for you to do sometime hence…
I would love it! ❤️
