The Blue Witch
I wrote my poem in response to the #WDYS Poetry Photo Prompt #207.

THE BLUE WITCH The blue witch sinewed down her beloved tree On guard on duty On call They were on their way, They planned to chop it down and cause it to fall Evil power saws of the unnecessary were attacking her domain, Her forestry. With the grave news that spread through the wood came dread pleas from the trees to save the oak if she could. Slipping past the quieted tawny owl who lives in a hole, by the bug who lives in a crack in the bark curving her long serpentine back in an arc The blue witch took the chance to take what chances she took, By the nuthatch who lives close and snug in a nook Her sinuous sliding, slipping slid inexorable slow down down below determined and inevitable as a waterfall flow She digs her nails into the soil rooting her soul into a coil winding it round deep in the earth She would protect the tree for all her worth.
