Nursery Rhyme Scavenger Hunt
Prompt No. 11. is to write an Interlocking Rubaiyat about the cat.
I wrote my poem CATS for this prompt.

I’ve always loved the quatrains numbered 51 and 52 from the Rubaiyat of Omar Kayyam.

  2. Love all these cat-related snippets, Lesley. I’ve never heard of an interlocking rubaiyat before… it sounds very technical.
And that lioness/sphinx photo is wonderful. Oh, and… Great painting once again.

    1. You are very kind, Tom. Thank you. 🙏❤️
I’d never heard of an interlocking rubaiyat before either! I went down a bit of a rabbit hole with this one! 🐰 😁

  4. Lesley I’m thrilled beyond measure that you took this prompt and ran with it! My father gave me a copy of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam when I was in middle school. I’ve read it several times (once for fun when I first got it, once for a college prep English class book report, and once for my sons when they were 3 & 4 as a bedtime story)! My copy is from 1919 and has a blue leather binding. I haven’t opened it since the boys were young but it is a prized possession.
The scavenger hunt goes on for as long as people are writing to the prompts! It was in September last year and there were poems nearly to Thanksgiving in November. So write on!!

    1. Oooh, thank you, Muri, 😊
I enjoyed this one very much.
I’ve mislaid my childhood Omar Kayyam book… it was my mother’s. It was small and square and bound in wine coloured leather. I’d love to find it. Funny how early poetry sticks, isn’t it? 💓💓💓
