  4. The robin stood out for me, Lesley, my mother’s favourite bird and, not long after she died, one flew in through my kitchen window. I think it was her.

      The very same thing happened to me, but it was a blackbird. It perched on the top of an open sash window. The gap was about eight inched wide. The bird watched me for a while, then flew in and around my bedroom—then flew away back through the narrow gap. I felt calmed.

      It is wonderful when birds connect.

  8. This is such a heart-rending piece, Lesley. A wonderful, pognant tribute to your love for your mother. The poem and artwork reminded me of a yew tree in a churchyard near a place where my sweety and I stayed in London’s Brockley district.
