The Rocking Throne
The empty throne rocks in marshland,
Waiting…
for a king or queen.
Since times before when times were grand,
When men were governors on dry land.
The empty throne waits offshore,
For evermore it waits…
and rocks and rocks at nature’s gates.
The vacant seat rocks back and forth,
Whence will come the absent monarch,
From the east or west, or the south or north?
The noble chair rocks from dawn to dark,
F’ward and aft and side to side,
Above the ebb and flow of the swampy tide.

I wrote my poem, The Rocking Throne, in response to Sadje’s #Whatdoyousee #245 writing and poetry photo prompt. To write something inspired by this image below.

Thank you, Sadje, for the inspiration that also inspired me to try a little animated drawing! My first effort with the Procreate Dreams app.
