Nightjar

In a hidden silence of a deep
mazarine blue light,
gentle chirring plays with the soft burrs of grass,
where mysteries hush asleep
in faint glimmers of midnight
holding sweet secrets deep.
Star clusters peek
through wafting shadowy clouds—
the chirring of a nightjar.

I wrote my quadrille Nightjar inspired by Whimsygizmo’s prompt for the d’Verse Poets. The prompt is to write a quadrille (a poem of just 44 words) including a form of the word, Jar.
Thank you, Whimsy, for the inspiration.
