I wrote my poem in response to Mish’s d’Verse Quadrille #216 – Can you take a hint? prompt. To write a quadrille poem of just 44 words that includes the word hint.
Hint of a Smile

His face was stern
as we trudged over dyke and stile,
I told a joke for a laugh—
his face stayed long like a giraffe!
Mile by mile
we walked like this,
then, with a hint of a smile,
He gave me a kiss.
