I wrote my poem in response to #Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No. 9. My heartfelt thanks go to this week’s host, Willow, for challenging us to compose an acrostic syllabic poem about ‘what is happening underground.’ Inspired by this fascinating prompt, I dug deep and crafted my haiku about the mining bee.
Andrena
mysterious life
inside hidden underneaths
nestle mining bees
in numinous dreams
napping beneath earth’s covers
gently lies andrena
burrowed all winter
each alone till spring blossoms
early risers buzz
