Last Breath: a nonet poem (and song)

I wrote my first-ever nonet for the Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge #19, where Willow invites us to explore the form and use synonyms for “the state of the world” or “our lives”—according to our own interpretation.

    Oh! Lesley this is so heartbreakingly beautiful because it is true….our forests are disappearing.

      Thank you so much, K. 🙏 It was a quickie in my Procreate app. I’ve got a new digital brush! But I really must get my stacks of watercolour paper out of the cupboard and do one the old fashioned way.😁

    Stupendous sentiment. What are we? Crazy! If trees produced WiFi 🛜 we’d be caring for them more. But no— trees only help us breathe better. And that’s not as vital as 🛜. How did we get here? A crazy state of affairs 🤷🏽‍♀️ 🤦🏽‍♀️ Somebody help us heal this lunacy!

      I know! There is so much wrong that it all seems impossible for us to sort. My heart breaks when I think about it all—the list is too long. Who is there that will help us with this lunacy? Good question, Selma. 🤷‍♀️
