My poem In the Dark and Dreadful Night was written in response to Sadje’s #Whatdoyousee #295 prompt, inspired by the photo by Philipp Deus @ Unsplash of a large ship docked by a small lighthouse.

I hope you enjoy my interpretation. I’m especially excited to share the song version at the foot of the poem! It’s wild!

  1. Girl is there nothing you can’t create? I loved this. I’d like to hear it sung the Vikings in the tone of a sea shanty. Brilliant 😊

  7. The poem combines tension and relief: it takes us to the edge of shipwreck and, suddenly, to tranquility and domestic humor. It conveys that even after the darkest moments, there is always a lighthouse (internal or external) that can guide us, and that after every storm, everyday life (represented by tea) reappears, reminding us of the simple beauty of still being here.

    Kind regards.
