I wrote Three Likes in response to this week’s W3 Poetry Prompt #187, where the poet‑of‑the‑week, Indira, invites us to write a poem on any subject—so long as it carries a comic touch
Three Likes

Three likes is all I got‽
I posted myself online
and all for what?
Three likes is all I got‽
for all that work—
for all my art
It breaks my heart.
Only three likes?
If I believed in religion
and a god—
then I’d say it’s meant to be…
and it wouldn’t matter
that the likes I got
for the likes of me
sum up to only…
three.
Only three likes‽
Out of all the millions
on earth?
Just three likes
How can I bare my soul
for such a measly toll?
Three likes?
I mean,
What a dearth!
What is it worth?
Now if it were four—
I could say,
“Cor!
I got four!
Four whole likes!
Yikes!
