Nolcha Fox is this week’s esteemed Poet of the Week for the W3 Poetry Prompt #191. She wants us to send 2025 off with a giggle 🤭. Her challenge is to amuse her with a poem of ten lines or fewer that places someone—or something—in a delightfully improbable location. Think sharks in a bathtub, a dragon in a bar, or any unexpected visitor turning up where it clearly doesn’t belong.

I hope my limerick raises at least a small smile. I certainly laughed while writing it, and I hope it brings you a giggle, a titter, or a festive-season chuckle. And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, may I still wish you joy and merriment all the same.

It is my pleasure to present The Operatic Haddock! 🐟

I hope you find this song at least slightly amusing 🐟

  9. I’m smiling, Lesley — that haddock in pink satin cracked me up, and the cheese-gratin ending was perfect. Such a fun take on the prompt.
