I wrote my poem Where I Need To Be in response to Sadje’s #WhatDoYouSee writing prompt #332 and the photo by NIR HIMI.

Where I Need To Be
You are exactly where you need to be
in a bush
or jamboree
I wonder where I am
in a car wash
or in a jam
Where I am
I do not know—
which road to take
which way to go
strolling a sandy lane
beside the sea
or
deep in thought
on a mountain track
or
find myself
unexpectedly
caught
up a gumtree
I search for a sign
to
lead me on
the one I find
confuses me:
‘You are exactly where you need to be’
I look around—
for I am lost—
in a wood—
a mountain range—
on a dry and dusty
path—
I need a bath
nothing for miles
as far as the eye can see
but all is well
as far as I can tell
the sign does say
I’ll find my way—
I am exactly where I need to be
