Looking up and down the track
Forward and back
There is no sign of you
Where are you?
Oh great and mighty choo-choo.

Looking up and down the track
Forward and back
To left and right
Again…
no sound or sight
of a train.

My poem Where Are You?—Oh Great And Mighty Choo-choo is written as a quadrille. A quadrille is a poem of only 44 words (not including the title). This week’s Dverse Pub prompt was to write a quadrille using the word ‘Track’. My thanks to Merrilldsmith for keeping me on track with the prompt.

  1. Waiting for that train–the choo-choo makes it lighthearted. But maybe it’s a sort of existential thing–is there a train? Will it ever come? 😏
Thank you for responding to the prompt! (One “l” in Merril.)

  2. Hi Leslie 🙂 I like the simplicity of the moment, the anticipation/longing and how the train could mean so many different things we wait for.

  3. Hehe! I love this. My old apartment was near a railway line, and those choo choo trains used to drive me mad. 🚋 🤯

I’ve just had a holiday near this railway and I loved the occasional (not a busy line) distant sound of the choo-choo trains. Of course, the sound of the sea was better.
So glad you enjoyed it Tanmay.
      Thank you ❤️🚂
