I wrote my poem, THE PINE, in response to Whimsygizmo’s, d’Verse prompt to pen a poem for the d’Verse Quadrille #182: are you pining poetry?
A quadrille is the creation of d’Verse Poets and it is a poem of exactly 44 words (not including the title), and using the one word provided.
I hope you enjoy it.
The Pine
THE PINE I lie supine beneath the pine Ignoring the needles in my spine I watch a squirrel climb aloft, toward his drey The forest whispers sweet and soft, as though to say Take care sweet creature on all fours The pinecones are mine Not yours Lesley Scoble, August 2023

Thank you Whimsygizmo, and d’Verse Poets for the inspiration and encouragement.

A little bit of personal history
Pinecone Studios
Pinecone is a special word for me. I spent much of my childhood working in films at the famous Pinewood Studios.
When I set up a company to run drama and filmmaking workshops in London’s inner-city schools, I chose the name Pinecone Studios.
This image displays the posters of a few of the films we produced.
Lesley lives in the City of London Square Mile. An artist, actor and sculptor (her first ceramic sculpture won the V&A inspired by… Award). Scenic artist & book illustrator, playwright, (her musical play, Rapscallion performed in inner city schools and theatre school); TV dancer; Animator and illustrator for TV production. Set up Pinecone Studios Ltd and IIMSI Ltd drama and filmmaking workshops in London – producing award-winning films made by children.

I love the light air to this, and there is a serious tone, too. The tree’s not kidding. Thank you for sharing the information about Pinecone Studios and your wonderful photography!

Best not ignore the needles in your spine, is what I heard on the orthopaedic grapevine.
