Sleeping Beauty

Aurora steps into the room,
The hag was spinning wool for her loom.
The spinning wheel spun,
“That looks fun.”
Said the princess.
“Take a closer look,”
Aurora approached,
And felt a sharp prick.
“Ouch, she exclaimed!”
And fell asleep on the couch.

I wrote my quadrille poem for the d’Verse Poets #197: Look Sharp, Now! Quadrille Poetry Prompt. Hosted by Whimsygizmo, who invites us to write a poem of just 44 words to include a form of the word sharp.

    🤭Aurora is my dog’s name and people sometimes ask if it’s after Sleeping Beauty. (It’s not.)

    I love that she falls asleep on the couch.🛋️

      Named after the Borealis, of course. No? What type of dog is she?
      The couch is the obvious place. No? 😁

        I gave her the name Mason and I chose for our child, had it been a girl. We had Finnegan. So I named my dog Aurora. (You can tell we have different tastes.😅)
        The couch works for me.😴

        Mason wanted it to be “Finn”, and we compromised on Finnegan. I do like it. We call him Finn, but I didn’t want that to be his whole first name.
