Tapestry Poetry
Tapestry poetry requires two poems of nine lines each in length. Two poets write their unique version to a title decided by one of them (it’s David’s turn this time). When the poems are writ, they disclose their individual poem to the ‘partner in rhyme’ to weave into a different poem eighteen lines long. They exchange drafts and emails back-and-forth until mutual happiness reigns with the woven words. (You may read our first tapestry poem here.)
David’s individual poem

not solely hypothetically
truth's contours flicker before me
where light's needed most sorely
in this smoke of right, rights, glory
here I stand, both prey and quarry
'pon fields of past and present, gory
watch as chapters destroy our story
visages savage; their visions stormy
~ dead-set, death-set, they ignore me

My individual poem
Act two, On stage,
Second half, Turn the page,
Read the script, Pages flipped,
How will it end? Wait and see,
All held in suspense, The scene is tense. Dramatic pause,
Well, I’m blessed! I’d never have guessed.
I knew. I knew it was he who dunnit!
I am the critics’ pundit of theatre review,
Curtain down. Thunderous applause.

I am proud to present to you our joint tapestry poem…
Drumroll please…
The Story’s Other Half
by David Bogomolny and myself.

Curtain down. Thunderous applause.
In this smoke of right, rights, glory,
Where the light's needed most sorely-
I knew. I knew it was they who dunnit!
Here I stand, both prey and quarry;
I am the critics’ pundit of theatre review,
But dead-set, death-set, they ignore me,
Visages savage; their visions stormy.
All held in suspense, the scene is tense. Dramatic pause.
Second half, turn the page,
Watch as the chapters destroy our story…
Act two, on stage,
Truth's contours flicker before me;
Read the script, pages flipped
Upon fields of past and present, gory
(Not solely hypothetically.)
How will it end? Wait and see…
Well, I’m blessed! I’d never have guessed…

Thunderous applause!

For the first time, I got COPILOT to illustrate my poem for me. What is the world coming to? Is this the end of my illustrating days? Are they drawing to a close? Why spend hours on a painting when you can type in a few keywords and, hey presto, it’s done for you?
