The inspiration for my poem, The Black Cat, came from Sadje’s #Whatdoyousee #239 poetry prompt. Where she challenges us to write something inspired by the image of a cat (shown below).
The Black Cat
A black cat stared at me from the wall,
Both eyes were odd,
He stared as though he were some crazed urban god,
One ear was short, the other long,
At first glance this cat appeared all wrong.
I turned to leave but he lashed his long-striped tail,
The whip of which caught me round my neck.
By heck! I had no chance!
No time to think or quick react.
My legs went weak, and I was going to fall,
If truth be known, as a matter of fact,
I was much afeared,
The tail tightened its grip,
I was in its clasp,
My eyes bulged and with one last gasp,
I disappeared.
