I had an enormous amount of fun joining in on this 2nd (four-person) rengay with David Bogomolny, Melissa Lemay, and Matt Snyder.
No Stone Unturned
by
David Bogomolny, Melissa Lemay, Matt Snyder, and me.

db: I hone my Hebrew
by watching Israeli
children's shows at home
ms: with every mistake
there is a solution
ls: listen to the blackbird
rehearsing its tuneful song
in gentle twilight
ml: lost in daydreams
I forget an appointment
I have this morning
db: blurry-eyed... searching for car
oh wait... we've never owned one
ms: why did I drink that ?
that fuzzy navel, so good !
sigh, hang-overs
ls: mind in disarray
the wind blows my ruffled hair
brushing silk cobwebs
ml: a glint of sun on a penny
...attention ...deficit
db: broken-eyed beggar
by our bakery-- but wait...
I've cash for a change
ms: Feeling generous
I buy 5 pizzas, eat one slice
Give the rest away
ls: no thanks, mate don’t eat pizza
my body is a temple
ml: at the library
I see a sign on the door
it reads אהבה

Thank you, David, Matt, and Melissa for this fascinating and fun rengay collaboration. It went in a different direction than the one I thought it would!
My first stanza contribution is a haiku about a blackbird practising his song. Blackbirds rehearse their songs to learn and perfect them. I wrote it to reflect David’s verse about learning Hebrew, and I interpreted Melissa’s first stanza as learning from mistakes… Rengay is so much fun with how its course changes with the input from different poet’s voices.
