  2. 😢 a reminder of what is real out there for far too many – well one is too many…. I do give, but the cup is soon empty again – powerful reminder of the lack of food ….

  5. Poignant, interesting that it is the cup that begs to be filled – nice touch there.

  6. Very poignant. You’ve captured the look of despair in both the man and his dog. I enjoyed watching your drawing appear in 20 sec, but I’m curious how long does it actually take?

Gosh! That’s a good question. I’m fast at sketching but not 20 seconds fast 😂 I know I spend too long on the iPad… I’ll time the next one. xxx

  7. A refreshing but sad take on the prompt, Lesley. As always, I love your art, the pain is palpable.

P.S just read your poem about jam doughnuts, these two offer a lovely contrasting take on the prompt ❤️

  11. I used to always have extra food, like peanut butter crackers, when I went shopping for the few people who I knew were homeless. Now, living in FL, panhandling is so overdone that it is hard to know if the people are legitimate. I will give out food but not money.

    1. I agree. 💞I once went with a friend giving out soup and listened to many stories. My heart broke at some of them. How easy it can be to become homeless and hungry.
Unfortunately, there are some ‘professional beggars’ that I’ve seen at the end of their shift speak on their mobiles and then go round the corner to get into their gang limos.
I know the owner of a wonderful pie shop near Waterloo who goes round at the end of his day giving away his unsold pies. 🥧 His pies are the best in town!

      1. I used to feed the homeless on Thanksgiving every year. It was done in a restaurant owned by a friend. They would take down all the liquor bottles from the bar and put up canned goods for “shopping”. I will never forget when someone told me they only wanted the name brand vegetables! That was disturbing to me.

      2. Oh my. It disturbs me too. That’s an astonishing slap in the face to your kindness and generosity.

  12. Such talent and insight into the world of others. Captured in an image. Trapped in a world that’s hard to escape. The compassion of others insufficient but yet helps to sustain him.
