Heat
(in order of appearance)
by
Lesley Scoble (ls), Matt Snyder (ms),
Melissa Lemay (ml), David Bogomolny (db)

ls: diaphanous flames
dance upon the dusty road—
waves of dreaming ghosts
ms: scurrilous arguments
enhanced by the rays of the Sun
ml: beads of sweat
upon my brow
glisten
db: Dad's heavy footsteps
fumbling with khakis, panicked
hard shutdown, hasty
ls: the pressure’s on—time to flee
pursued by unseen forces
ms: going at it like rabbits
our fiery passion
DAMN IT!! the A.C. broke
ml: pause in intensity
of multiplication and
division homework
db: Netanya beach vacation
commitments all abandoned
ls: aftersun cream soothes
burning and blistering skin,
G&T sundowner
ms: we grabbed the garden hose
sprayed each other down
best way to get cool, EVER.
ml: drinking iced tea extra ice
sitting in front of the fan
db: awaken—
wet; cool pool of
perspiration

Thank you David, Melissa and Matt for all the fun of writing rengay with you.
Matt’s Swan Song
We are saying a fond farewell to Matt. The eleventh rengay in this four-person rengay series is Matt’s last rengay with us. We shall no longer be the four musketeers! We are sorry to see him go—but he has fresh adventures to follow.
I wish you well, Matt. Take care, friend.
