I wrote this poem in a bit of a spin! In response to Whimsygizmo’s, d’Verse Poets’ Quadrille #207 Spin Cycle Prompt. “To Just spin us a poem of precisely 44 words (not counting the title), containing some form or other of the word spin.”
Quadrille?
We all know a quadrille should have a precise count of 44 words, don’t we?
I was about to publish when I noticed my poem was overlong!
I put the poem into a washing machine on a fast spin to shrink it.
It came out of the spin dryer at 44 words! How about that?!
Here is the shrunk version.
My Head’s in a Spin

My heads in a spin,
I don’t know where I’m goin’,
(Or even where I’ve bin!)
I’ve been here and there,
All over,
And who knows Where!
I haven’t a clue!
What A To Do!
Where I’ve been,
Or even what I’m up To!

Here is the original full length poem
My heads in a spin,
I don’t know where I’m goin’,
(Or even where I’ve bin!)
I’ve been here and there,
Up and down,
All over,
And who knows Where!
I haven’t a clue!
What a to do!
Where I’ve been,
Or even what I’m up to.
Now it’s time for my bath!
Are you having a laugh?
I’ve been out to lunch,
Or was it a brunch?
Oh, now I’m having a turn!
I’ve got a small hunch,
And I’m sure it’s a sin,
But I don’t think I’ll learn,
Anythin’.
There’s a honk on a horn,
Toot! Toot!
“Are you coming oot?”
It’s McTavish in his car, (he’s Scottish)
(I’ve known him since I was born)
“Are you comin’? he says,
Where? I enquire.
Join me in my nice new red car—
Let’s go for a spin!
I get in.
