Celandore Wood
The Atlantic rain wood of Celandore,
Steeped in faery lore and history,
On the southern side of dark Druigwell Tor,
Shrouded in fog, magic, and mystery.
Beware when entering Celandore wood,
You may come across the fearsome unknown,
Wicked wights lurking, would see you as food,
Stay alive, and do not go there, alone.
Few who tread down the path ever get out,
Even with magical compass in hand,
Each disappears with a chilling doomed shout—
Swallowed by moss in the wights’ spectral land.
So, heed this warning, and keep far away—
The wight feasts by night as well as by day.

Requirements:
- Length: 14 lines;
Ekphrasis: Write a poem inspired by the above image, in which towering ancient trees loom over a hidden, moss-covered path that winds into the heart of the forest. A single beam of light filters through the canopy, illuminating a relic—a weathered, stone-carved compass buried in the roots;
Suggestions:
- Personification: Incorporate the poetic device of personification, giving the forest or relic a voice to express emotions or secrets long kept hidden;
Themes: The poem should evoke a sense of mystery and time’s passage.
