Dead Quiet

ls:     no breath, no leaf stirs,
         grey clouds static, no birds sing—
         calm before the storm

db:     running towards the carcass
           a girl screams her puppy's name

ml:      a red balloon
           floats up from the
           sewer drain

ls:      a creeping stench follows it…
               disappearing     in a gust

db:        smallish farmhouse  lands
             with a Tremendous ka -  Thump!
              ~ ruby slippers  shine

ml:        excavation reveals
             wisps of orange hair
