her golden tresses
softly brushing gentle slopes
flow like languid streams
silver scissors shine
their whetted desire prepares—
to snip and snip and…
eyes down idle read
with magazine lightly held
she sits in stillness
the hairdresser chats
gossiping cutting remarks
sharpened steel whispers
soothing hum droning
air conditioning blowing
warm air ~ her eyes close
scissors trimly snip
lovely lengthy locks close cut
too close cut! oh dear
in her reverie—
she walks down the aisle—hair coifed
elegantly styled…
curls cascade tumbling
shimmering like autumn leaves
onto the floorboards
…plaited and piled up high
in a veiled frothy white cloud—
all eyes are on her
a sweep broom brushes
lost dreams across cold lino
swish, swish, swishing swish
she lifts sleepy eyes—
mirrored face—unfamiliar
her scream shocks the dead

I wrote my first senryū series in response to the Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No. 10, hosted by the gracious Robbie (robbiesinspiration). Robbie challenges us to Write a senryu series with at least two senryu stanzas. Each stanza should reflect two opposing human experiences in the series, alternating between the stanzas.
Thank you for the inspiring challenge, Robbie!
My deepest gratitude to you, the reader, for taking the time to read my poem.
