I wrote Under the Mulberry Tree in response to the W3 Poetry Prompt #185, where the Poet of the Week, Shaun Tenzenmen, invites us “to create a poem that utilises internal rhyme where possible and keep the length between 8 and 16 lines.”

I seem to still be lingering in last week’s mode of writing about food and drink! I hope you enjoy it—and perhaps even dance along to the song. 🎶

    1. Haha! 😁 Thanks, Marion! I only called it puce to echo the rhyme of juice in an earlier stanza. I actually love red wine—but it makes me very drunk very quickly 😂

  9. Lesley, this feels so cozy to me — like I’m sitting right there under that mulberry tree with you. 🌿 The way you keep circling back to “I don’t like red” just made me grin. 🍷✨
