My third attempt at writing a Cherita poem was inspired by the theme Missing Roadsign, set by Poet-of-the-Week Nolcha Fox for this week’s W3 Poetry Prompt #194.
The Cherita (a Malay word meaning tale or story) is a six-line poem:
a single opening line begins the story,
a two-line stanza builds the middle,
and a final three-line stanza brings it to a close.
I hope you enjoy the tale—and its accompanying audio.
Missing Roadsign
Cherita No. 3

I’ve no idea where we are now
the street’s buildings’ unlit windows
glaze blankly in the dark
the streets lead nowhere
look for road signs—there must be a road sign
there aren’t any — and I’ve no gps.

My thanks to Nolcha for introducing me to the Cherita poetry form.
My thanks, as always, to David, The Skeptics Kaddish, for his constant poetic motivation and encouragement.
And my whole hearted thanks to you, the reader, for spending time with my poem.
