When studying this week’s photo for Sadje’s #Whatdoyousee, I saw a crow in the reflection of the house’s upper window. And so my poem was born. I hope you enjoy it, along with the audio interpretation.
Behind Me

Behind me on the slanted roof
perched the crow —
I know
because I can see him
reflected
in the upper window
silhouetted
on the sharp apex of the roof
above
below
where orange curtains billow
gleaming black
behind my back
we face the house
with stencilled street art
and a sign that says
SPACE
there’s something
unusual about
this place
