Dawn till Dusk
Dawn till Dusk
a mirrored cinquain
rising
like a phoenix
in the fiery dawn
I stretch my arms to the heavens
and yawn
fading
sinking into a newborn dream
last sigh of crimson light
I close my eyes
goodnight

Dawn till Dusk is now a song!
I wrote my first American Cinquain in response to Yvette Calleiro’s prompt for the Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No.15. to write an American Cinquain, or one of its variations, about a beginning or an ending (or maybe both). My poem gradually evolved into a Mirrored Cinquain. The syllable pattern for the American cinquain is 2-4-6-8-2, while the Mirror Cinquain follows a 2-8-6-4-2 structure.
THANKS
